About this tool
Marks up a screenshot. Point at something with an arrow, put a box around it, circle it, or scribble on it freehand, then save the picture with the marks drawn in.
How to use it
- 1Drop in a screenshot, or press Ctrl+V to paste one from the clipboard.
- 2Pick a tool, a colour and a thickness.
- 3Press and drag on the image to draw.
- 4Undo anything you did not mean, then download the result.
Good to know
A screenshot never has to become a file
On macOS Cmd, Control, Shift and 4 together, and on Windows the Windows key with Shift and S, put a screenshot on the clipboard rather than saving it. Paste it here and it loads directly, so marking one up does not start with a detour through the file system.
Undo removes marks, not pixels
Each mark is kept as a description of itself rather than as a picture of itself, so undoing simply forgets the last one and the image is redrawn without it. Keeping snapshots instead would cost around two hundred megabytes per step on a large photograph.
Thickness follows the picture
A stroke is stored at its width in the image, so a line that looks right on the preview is the same weight relative to the picture in the saved file. Without that, marks made on a large photograph would come out hair thin.
