About this tool
Counts words, characters, sentences and paragraphs as you type, and estimates how long the text takes to read aloud. Useful for anything with a limit on it: an essay, a meta description, a post that has to fit a character count.
How to use it

Good to know
What counts as a word
Runs of non-whitespace separated by whitespace, which is the same rule most word processors use. Hyphenated compounds count once, and a numeral counts as a word.
Reading time
Estimated at around 200 words per minute, an average for reading aloud. Silent reading is usually faster and technical material slower, so treat it as a guide rather than a stopwatch.
