About this tool

Puts a logo or watermark on a video and writes a new file with it burned into every frame. Drop the video, drop the image, drag it into place on a still from the video, set its size and opacity or tile it across the picture, and export in the format you want. The composite is rendered in your browser; the encoder only blends one still over the frames, so the preview is exactly what the file gets.

How to use it

1Drop in a video. A still frame from it appears, and a slider picks which one.
2Drop or paste a logo: PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG. It lands in the bottom right at a fifth of the width.
3Drag it where you want it, or press a corner preset. Drag its corner to resize, set the opacity, and switch on Tile to repeat it across the frame.
4Pick a format, quality and size, then export.

Good to know

One still, not one frame at a time

The logo, its opacity and any tiling are drawn once in your browser onto a transparent image the size of the video frame. FFmpeg then composites that one still over every frame in a single pass. That keeps the encoder's job simple and fast, and it is why what you see on the still is exactly what you get in the file. The file is read into memory by your own browser and processed there, so it is never uploaded and never reaches a server.

Why GIF is not offered

Animated GIF is written in two passes, one to build a colour palette and one to apply it, and a watermark would have to be composited in both. The Video Converter still makes GIFs; watermark the video first, then convert it there.

Files the browser cannot play

Some containers and codecs play in FFmpeg but not in a browser, AVI with DivX being the usual one. There is no still to place the logo on, so the tool reads the picture size from the file instead and shows a plain frame of the right shape. Placement works the same way, and the export is unaffected.

Resolution and speed

The picture can be kept at its original size or scaled down to 1080p, 720p, 480p or 360p on the way out; the logo scales with it, so it stays where you put it. Encoding runs on your own processor, so a long 4K clip takes a while; the speed setting trades file size for time the same way the converter's does.

Common questions

Can I use an SVG logo?

Yes. FFmpeg cannot read SVG, so the browser rasterises it first at 2048 pixels on its long side and hands the encoder a bitmap. Text in the SVG must be outlined or use a font the browser has, and linked images are not fetched.

Why is the watermark slightly softer after export?

It is encoded with the video, so it goes through the same compression and, if you chose a smaller resolution, the same downscale. A higher quality setting keeps it crisper; a logo with a transparent background and clean edges survives best.

Does the logo have to be in a corner?

No. The corner buttons are shortcuts. Drag it anywhere on the frame, or switch on Tile to repeat it across the whole picture the way stock sites mark previews.

Does the watermark cover the whole video?

Yes, every frame from the first to the last, at the same place and opacity. There is deliberately no start and end time here: this tool does one thing, and a video that needs a logo for only part of its length is an editing job.
